Add-Ons
Add-ons are items or accessories which are ordered in addition to the basic treatment design. Enhancing a simple treatment with a variety of embellishments allows for customization. Basic treatments are rarely ordered without at least one or two add-on items. Refer to Appendix C for a comprehensive list of add-ons in our publication "Elements of Soft Traetments"
Depending on the workroom chosen, add-ons may be hand or machine sewn, stapled, glued, bonded, or overlaid, and for some applications, only one method or another is possible. Check with the drapery workroom to see which application method they use in given situations.
Add-ons are fabricated either upright, railroaded, or bias cut (Appendix A), and each add-on will have its own set of standard specifications, such as 1”-2” bottom hems, 1½” side hems, etc. This information may either be provided or required by the workroom in order to figure the yardage and to estimate the labor. Refer to the work order form to determine the necessary information.
To learn more about designing and specifying Add-Ons, refer to chapter 14 in the book Elements of Soft Treatments
