A memory stitch is used to help hold the folds in place along the bottom of a drapery. A bottom memory stitch is good to use on fabrics that are springy, have no weight to the fabric or just don't have any body.
Placing a memory stitch along the bottom hem forms permanent folds at the bottom of the drapery and carries the folds from the top of the treatment all the way through to the bottom hem.
The bottom memory stitch is sewn to the back side of the drapery near the top of the hem. A heavy duty thread is used to keep the thread from breaking. The stitch is placed where the spaces are on the drapery.
