When I first purchased my business, the former owners did not want anything to do with the drapery part of the business. They wanted to focus on blinds, shutters, and flooring.
I discovered later on that our flooring sales where down due to a large chain that came to town the same time I took over and contracted all the good installers and left me with a selection that were most undesirable in follow-through and integrity.
Former owners were "giving" the drapery and bedding business away for a small % commission kickback. I soon saw what a lucrative business it could be and dropped the flooring and took back the drapery end of it.
I then reached out for help with Kirk Axelson with Precision Draperies Education and his learning tools and gained in a short time the knowledge I needed to survive and be prosperous with the drapery and bedding.
